I found a website that you can go to go get a fast, free, no obligation quote to the value of your car towards the purchase of a new one.

Imagine the power of going in to a dealer and telling them what they will give you for your trade in because you already know their limit. If they try to tell you otherwise, you will be able to show them what the value is, how much of a profit they will make, and what the standard price is paid by their competition.

Have you ever wondered what the heck is p with all of these free offers that are scattered all over the internet? It seems that you can’t land on a page anymore without seeing a big flashing banner telling you that you have won something. The keyword free is the number one keyword typed into a search engine throughout the year. It’s also one of the most expensive keywords that you can use in advertising. If you’ve been using the internet for more than a week, I’m sure you’ve come across the banner exclaiming that you are a winner. But there are some things that you must be aware of if you click on any of these ads.

There are basically two types of groups that advertise giving away free stuff on the internet. Some of these are legitimate offers that are using this method for advertisement, and some are just out to get you information or worse.

Some time back I clicked on one of these ads. I had to fill out page after page of information about myself. When I got done there was only a short blurb about how I will be notified if I was one of the selected people to get this free offer. Withing a week I was on thousands of email lists and my email address became worthless to use for anything else. This ad that I had clicked on was used for something known as email farming. I gave them information about myself and they turned around and sold it. They knew what my hobbies were, where I liked to travel and everything else about my lifestyle, and of course they knew how to get ahold of me through email. There really isn’t anything dangerous about these types of ads, but your chances of really winning are slim. If you do click on ads like these, make sure that you use a disposable email address such as something on gmail or yahoo that you can toss when it gets overly spammed.

You also have your legitimate advertises who will also give away free items. Large companies are always looking for contact details of people that may be interested in their items. The reason for this is that it is much cheaper and productive to send their fliers out only to people that are looking for what they have to offer instead of having to put them in every newspaper of every city in the country. For instance, Dell computers runs an ad like the on to the right of this page. If you were to register for that free giveaway, they know that you are interested in Dell computers. Only in this case, instead of selling off your information, they will use it for their own sales campaign. Instead of seeing a large increase of emails in your box, you may get one. You will also be on their mailing list to get those colored brochures sent through the US mail directly to your house. Apple is currently running a similar campaign for their iphones. They are giving aways some iphones as an advertising promotion.

So, how do we tell the difference between the two types of ads? The easiest way is to look at who is advertising it. If you see that it links to either a large company or a respectable advertising company, you can pretty much assume that it is for real. Either way I still recommend that you use a disposable email address just in case. Look at who is offering what. If Dell is giving away computers, it makes sense. If some unknown little website is giving away computers I’d be a little leery about it. You should also look at the size of the offer. It doesn’t cost much for Apple to give away a few iphones in exchange for some advertising. They actually save money in the long run. However, Ferrari would probably never give away an Enzo. So, before you give away your personal information, just think about it for a minute. You’ll save a lot of headaches in the long run.

Botox injection popularity has been growing since the procedure first came out. However most people don’t realize that they are actually poisoning themselves with decomposing food that is 40 million times more powerful than cyanide. Because of this self poisoning some people are paralyzing their respiratory muscles.

Former Presidential candidate Ralph Nader has been trying to get the FDA to take some action. He says that the public isn’t aware of the seriousness of this and wants them to start issuing stronger warnings on the side affects of botox injections. Read the story here.

People are willing to try just about anything these days to look younger. As the majority of our population starts getting older the market for these products is growing. It seems you can’t open a magazine or turn on the TV anymore without seeing an add for some kind of product claim to make you look younger. But poison?

The way that botox works is that this poison is injected just under the skin. Then it paralyzes a muscle which prevents it from contracting for 4 to 6 months. This of course eliminates the wrinkles in the area of injection. This s what gives you that plastic face look.

When I first heard about botox it was on a news program on t some years back. My first thoughts were that it looked painful. Why the heck would anyone want to stick needle between their eyes. I also notice that the patients that were trying it didn’t look natural. They had this plastic look on their face. I thought it would never catch on, but it is.

I think Hollywood is partly to blame for this one. If you turn on an awards show you can see all of those older actors with the stiff faces. People could become billionaires with this product in L.A. alone. When people see their favorite stars using it and they see how much younger they look, they want to go out and try it themselves.

It costs approximately $400.00 for the price the botox and another $500.00 to $2000.00 for the fee to the doctor to inject it. Once started, this process needs to be repeated every 4 to 6 months. It’s no wonder that this product is not being properly regulated. This is some very big money. it kind of reminds me of the oil industry, but that’s another post.

This is another area where people are just too stupid for their own good. If people want to poison themselves, hey it’s of with me. However, without the proper warnings the public will unknowingly get themselves injected which can lead to some serious health issues including death. This is totally insane. It’s time the FDA starts doing there job of protecting the citizens.

I think botox injections should be limited to only medical necessities just as the article states. People need to start accepting the fact that they are getting older. Until they do, they will continue killing themselves trying to find the fountain of youth.

A so called scientific study shows that if you fight with your spouse you will live longer.

You can read the article here.

I wonder how much the government paid for on this study. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Common sense tells you that when you get into an argument your blood pressure rises, stress builds and it can eventually lead to separation. We all know about the bad affects of high blood pressure and stress, but it has been proven, probably by these same scientists, that married couples live longer.

There is a line in this article that states, “one study revealed when people are angry they tend to make better decisions“. HUH? I would really like to hear these guys explain why we have so many people that are in prison just because they got angry.

What I’d like to know is who are these scientists that are doing these studies? Maybe they all have bad marriages so they come up with this kind of stuff as an excuse to always pick a fight with their spouse.

This is one of the most insane findings to a study that I think I’ve ever seen. I think I understand what they are trying to say. They are trying to say that if you bottle up your anger you will have a shorter life span. However, there are much safer alternatives to this problem than to fight with your spouse.

This article talks about built up anger and releasing it through arguing with your spouse. It doesn’t mention resolving the problem that made you angry in the first place. If you just argue about it you never fix the problem. You just magnify it. Think back to the last argument you had with your spouse. Who was in the right? Who does your spouse think was in the right? It is much better to get the root of the problem resolved before it reaches the point of argument. Have these guys ever heard of talking?

Well I hate to cut this post short but I have to go fight with the wife.

I needed to run to the store yesterday and was only gone for a very short amount of time. Fortunately I wasn’t gone very long. When I was coming down the street to my house I saw a vehicle in my driveway. I wasn’t sure who it was, but I assumed they knew me because they were parked very close to my garage. As I was pulling up I saw them starting to take off as if they were in a hurry. This of course made me think something was definitely wrong so I tried to block them in. They just cut across the grass and was able to get around me. As they got past me, I did note the vehicle and license plate. I also noticed that the two in the vehicle looked quite young. The two in the vehicle got away, but someone was still in the house.

I knew that someone was still in the house because the garage door slammed and there was noise inside. My dogs were also going crazy. So, I immediately called 911 to get someone over.

As it turned out, the vehicle was stolen. The owners of this vehicle stopped by my house to talk to me. This was their second vehicle stolen within two weeks and they believe that there is some kind of teenage criminal group in our part of town. After their first vehicle was stolen, the police did manage to catch one person who refused to tell them who else was involved. This by the way wasn’t the first vehicle he stole.

Since this kid went to the same school as my kids I was able to get a little bit of information on this kid. Since he is a minor I can not legally state any names, but I was to find out that he only spent a few days in jail. Remember now that this wasn’t his first offense.

This kid was out by the time the second vehicle was stole and used in the crime of breaking into my house. Based off of what I heard, I believe he is the one that kicked in my back door and was still in my house when the others took off. This kid is only 16 and he is on the road to a lot of prison time. Unfortunately a lot of people will suffer before he gets any real time.

Now we can go round and round debating why kids go bad. I think I have met this kid before. I know that he used to be a good kid up until his parents got divorced. But I’m not saying that the seperation of his parents is what caused it. I grew up in a single parent home and I never reverted to crime.

The problem may have started as to the why’s, and we may never really be able to fix that. However, I do think we can fix the continuing problem by punishing these kids for their crimes the first time. Why on earth is a kid that has been caught stealing cars on more than one occasion out running the streets? Why isn’t he at the very least under full time supervision?

According to Time Magazine, teenage crime is rising 67% every 10 years. What are we doing about it? Not a thing from what I can see. Why wouldn’t a kid continue committing crime if there are no consequences?

When children are still babies you tell them no. You can keep on telling them no but eventually it quits working. Eventually you have to smack there hands. Well we are way past hand smacking when they reach their teenage years. We need to start looking at some serious punishment.

Now I’m ok with probation for a first offense. However probation can not be just saying “don’t do it again” and then just have them come visit you once a month. They need to be seriously monitored. They need to know that society is serious about keeping them on the right track.

If the teenager commits a second offense I think there should be mandatory time spent behind bars. I’m not talking about a weekend playing basketball with a bunch of other delinquents, I’m talking about doing some real time. This time should be spent locked up. Some time for education and counseling should be fit in to the cell time to help correct them as well, but they need to know that if they commit a crime they will have to pay the penalty. By the time that these kids get out of jail there should be no need to worry as much. They should be educated and have a good understanding of what is expected of them.

I also think this should also be a part of their permanent record. If when they get out, possibly as adults, and they commit another crime it should be considered a 3rd strike and they should be put away for good. If they can’t straighten out after there second strike, they aren’t going to straighten out and should be deemed career criminals. We shouldn’t have to wait until they start all over again as adults before we consider them as no good.

I put a lot of my opinions on this blog. Most of them aren’t agreed upon by others, but I do think that for the most part people will agree on the points that I have mentioned here. So, what do we do about it? It’s high time that we start taking an active role in this. The only way that we are going to start correcting the problem with teenage crime is to start letting our political leaders know how we feel about this issue. It’s high time that it becomes a major issue on the ballots.

So, they finally did it. They’ve been talking about it for years and it’s starting to happen. They are going to allow Americans that live abroad to vote online.

Read the article here.

If you think that they had problems during the 2000 elections, just wait. Now that they will start to allow elections to be held online their will be more court battles, more cheating, and a whole lot more confusion than any previous election that was ever held.

I’ve seen first hand what can happen when a website gets hacked. There are some really good hackers out there. Most of these hacks take place on minor sites and are done for the hackers own perverse pleasures. But what will happen when election websites start showing up on the internet?

Picture this. You are registered to vote on an election website. It’s now election day and you are ready to online to vote. You go online and put in the correct url and the opening page has a giant picture of a skull and crossbones with the words “You’ve been hacked by some idiot”.

That scenario would of course be minor. Still regardless how minor that may be, it could be enough to greatly affect the outcome of an election. Imagine if everyone located outside of the U.S. can not vote. That would be a lot of voters not counted.

Now picture this. You go to the website to vote. You select your favorite candidate. You get a response back thanks you for your vote and that it has been counted, or whatever. However, someone has been able to manipulate the code and the vote is actually counted for a different candidate.

Are these impossible scenarios? Not at all. This kind of stuff happens everyday all over the place. Kids these days are hacking sites that have been deemed impossible to hack. They do it for fun. Imagine what would happen to a website that gets attacked by a professional that has a real interest in corrupting the system.

I think that we are a long way off before we can even consider electronic voting over the net. They would still need to find a way to prevent access of people that are determined to ruin the legal voting system. As long as the internet is world wide, I don’t think this will ever happen. In my opinion, a telephone voting system would be much easier to secure. Why don’t they start looking into this option for voters that live abroad?

I just got my new auto insurance bill in the mail and I’m pissed. I’m 46 years old, never been in an accident, never had a dwi, never lost my license, but still my insurance goes up. When I contact my insurance company to find out what’s going on they said that auto accidents are on the rise in my state.

What the heck does this have to do with me? I’ve driven in some of the most populated driving conditions possible. I’ve driven in Paris and Seoul which has more cars than they have roads. They drive like maniacs over there. yet I still have a perfect driving record.

You see I’m a defensive driver. I know everything that is going on around me while I’m on the streets. I know what you are thinking….they are called accidents because they are accidental and can’t be avoided. BULLRUBBISH! If you are aware of your surroundings you can avoid these accidents and the insurance companies know this.

The problem isn’t that it’s getting more dangerous more me on the streets as the auto insurance industry would like you to believe, it’s that they need to make up for money lost on the stupid drivers. They are actually making us pay for the stupidity of others.

I was doing some unrelated research on the internet and saw the dwi is one of the top searches on the internet. So I got to looking into that. The highest priced keyword is that I found under that category is Austin dwi followed by Austin dwi attorney.

I don’t live in Austin, or even Texas for that matter, but I would have to assume that based on my conversation with my insurance company auto insurance must be outrages in that area.

But once again. Why should someone have to pay for the stupidity of others? I know what happens. Someone gets arrested for a dwi. They lose their license and in turn the insurance company loses their customer. If this idiot driving drunk is involved in an accident, which most do, then the insurance company is left holding the bag. So, what do they do? They pass it on to us.

Based off this research that I was doing, Austin, San Diego, and then Houston are the top cities where people were searching for a dwi attorney. I can only assume that this means those are the top cities with drunk drivers. If you ever considered moving to Texas, you may want to reconsider due to the drunks that are driving in that state.

Now how the heck did I get off topic? Oh yeah, other idiot drivers are costing me money regardless how spotless my driving record is. What the heck is going to happen when my 16 year old daughter starts driving this year? I may just have to take out a second mortgage.

Apparently there is this convicted bank robber who won the lottery. Part of the terms for his 5 year probation was to not gamble, visit any gambling facility or buy any lottery tickets.

So, what this guy do? He goes out and buys a lottery ticket ……. and wins.

See the whole story here.

Now most people would thin that’s ok, it’s his money and he should keep it. But, he broke the rules of his probation to win this money.

Two things come to mind. First of all this guy has got to be pretty stupid. He risked going to prison by claiming this ticket. Wouldn’t the smarter thing to do be have someone else claim the ticket? Now of course stupidity on this guys part was already known since he was known to do stupid things in the past anyway by robbiong a bank.

The second thing is what the heck are we saying to society in general? That’s like telling a drug dealer he can keep the money he earned selling drugs. “It’s ok, you earned it so it’s yours”.

This guy breaks his probation and wind 800 million dollars because of it. I have to think that there is something else going on here. Maybe?

This guy should have been forced to give up his illegal winnings. I’m sure the state can put this money to good use for the needy. Then he should have been locked up for breaking probation. Instead, what was the penalty he had to pay? He has to pay his own probationary supervisory fee. A mere $65.00 a month.
