Botox injection popularity has been growing since the procedure first came out. However most people don’t realize that they are actually poisoning themselves with decomposing food that is 40 million times more powerful than cyanide. Because of this self poisoning some people are paralyzing their respiratory muscles.
Former Presidential candidate Ralph Nader has been trying to get the FDA to take some action. He says that the public isn’t aware of the seriousness of this and wants them to start issuing stronger warnings on the side affects of botox injections. Read the story here.
People are willing to try just about anything these days to look younger. As the majority of our population starts getting older the market for these products is growing. It seems you can’t open a magazine or turn on the TV anymore without seeing an add for some kind of product claim to make you look younger. But poison?
The way that botox works is that this poison is injected just under the skin. Then it paralyzes a muscle which prevents it from contracting for 4 to 6 months. This of course eliminates the wrinkles in the area of injection. This s what gives you that plastic face look.
When I first heard about botox it was on a news program on t some years back. My first thoughts were that it looked painful. Why the heck would anyone want to stick needle between their eyes. I also notice that the patients that were trying it didn’t look natural. They had this plastic look on their face. I thought it would never catch on, but it is.
I think Hollywood is partly to blame for this one. If you turn on an awards show you can see all of those older actors with the stiff faces. People could become billionaires with this product in L.A. alone. When people see their favorite stars using it and they see how much younger they look, they want to go out and try it themselves.
It costs approximately $400.00 for the price the botox and another $500.00 to $2000.00 for the fee to the doctor to inject it. Once started, this process needs to be repeated every 4 to 6 months. It’s no wonder that this product is not being properly regulated. This is some very big money. it kind of reminds me of the oil industry, but that’s another post.
This is another area where people are just too stupid for their own good. If people want to poison themselves, hey it’s of with me. However, without the proper warnings the public will unknowingly get themselves injected which can lead to some serious health issues including death. This is totally insane. It’s time the FDA starts doing there job of protecting the citizens.
I think botox injections should be limited to only medical necessities just as the article states. People need to start accepting the fact that they are getting older. Until they do, they will continue killing themselves trying to find the fountain of youth.
